About Sarah

Hi friends!  Welcome to my little corner of cyber-space!  Grab yourself a cup of something warm to drink and pretend we're at a coffee shop getting to know one another in person.  Going on coffee dates with friends is my very favorite past time, so pull up a chair and let's be friends!

I'm a west coast gal who suddenly found herself recently transplanted to Jacksonville, FL--WAY far away from the Pacific Ocean and Sierra Nevada mountains I grew up in the shadow of.  I've spent years in Sacramento, Seattle, Los Angeles and now Jacksonville and I'm learning there is beauty everywhere, although some places are greener than the drought ridden landscape of Southern California I recently left!  I'm the mama of two little boys, the wife of a pretty fantastic guy, a pastor, writer, speaker, and lover of all things food, books, and coffee.  My favorite thing?  Reading books about food.

It took me awhile (umm a Master's Degree plus 7 years) to realize my passion in life is writing for and speaking to people to encourage them as they journey through all life throws at them--marriage, parenthood, relationship struggles, and the ups and downs of a life of faith.  I have a Masters of Divinity from Fuller Seminary and thought I'd head down the path of traditional pastor yet I've come to realize full time church work wasn't my passion.  I love speaking and writing more than anything I've ever done and am excited to use those gifts more in the future at local MOPS groups, women's retreats, or other church events. This is a place where I tell stories, share ideas, look for where God is at work in the world around me, and wrestle with how to worship and glorify God in the midst of washing dishes and picking up toys many times a day.  Throughout scripture God would regularly take ordinary elements like a pile of rocks and proclaim that space holy.  Those rocks became markers of an encounter with Him or a sign of something God had done for His people in that place.  These altars weren't fancy, but were physical reminders of God's provision, His goodness, His faithfulness to those who follow Him.  Ordinary, everyday objects to point the way to our extraordinary God.  That's what my kitchen sink is becoming.  An ordinary place I stand more times a day than anywhere else.  A place where I am regularly reminded of how God loves us, how He provides, how He nourishes.  So join me, won't you?  I promise you don't have to do my dishes, but let us look together for the goodness of God in this beautiful, messy world we live in.  I bet we might find him in some unexpected places.  Maybe even at our kitchen sinks.
